On Friday, August 28, 2026, we held “Bay Area AI Meetup #4: From Asking AI Questions to Delegating Work—An Introduction to AI Agents” at Niterra North America, Inc. in Santa Clara.

AI agents, a topic that had generated particular interest at the previous meetup, were the main theme. The event featured presentations from three speakers and lightning talks from participants.

Shoyu shared tips for using agents effectively, drawing on examples such as automatically starting AI agents every morning to summarize email and Slack messages and create HTML slides. Shoyu also introduced AI tools including “dir,” covering a wide range of topics.

Jin introduced an example in which more than 700 AI agents autonomously collaborated on tasks involving AI models on Hugging Face. Jin also explained in detail how AI agents break down tasks, make plans, and carry them out. Building on these mechanisms, the presentation covered defining workflows for AI to move projects forward automatically, along with tips for using them in practice.

Mie shared a more specific practical example: how to automate testing and debugging in software development projects with AI agents. The step-by-step explanation made it easy to picture how AI agents could fit into actual development work, making this a very practical session.

Several participants also took the stage during the lightning talks in the second half. Examples of creating picture books with AI, tips for generating beautiful illustrations and images, and discussions sparked by participants' questions made for a lively, spontaneous session.

Once again, it was an enjoyable gathering with a wide range of topics, from how AI agents work to their use in everyday tasks, software development, and content creation. Thank you to all our speakers and everyone who joined us!
